A Utensil that entered the Domain on Yom Tov (and Shabbath)

According to Rabbi Yehudah Ha-Nasi even Midbariyyoth, animals which leave the city in the spring time and return to the city when the rains begin to fall are considered domestic. If such animals enter the Tehum upon return to the city when Yom Tov has already commenced it is not considered muktzeh and may be slaughtered on Yom Tov.

Rabbi Ze’ira deduces from Rabbi Judah Ha-Nassi’s statement that a utensil that was brought into the Tehum at nightfall when Yom Tov has already begun is not considered muktzeh and may be moved around (four cubits). The same applies to produce in this situation.

The Talmud Bavli (Betzah 35a, Eruvin 41a) maintains that if the item is brought into the Tehum for a specific Jew, that Jew may not make use of it or consume it but other Jews are permitted to do so.

Rabbi Ze’ira does not make this provision. Furthermore, it appears from the incident cited that even if the item was brought specifically for the Jew, that Jew may in fact make use of it or consume it.
